As of Nov. 23, Jackson County, including Seymour, is once again under a Burn Ban due to drought conditions, wind and low humidity.
What does this mean?
Effective immediately, the following activities are prohibited in Jackson County until the burn ban is lifted:
1. Campfires and other recreational fires, unless enclosed in a fire ring with dimensions of 23 inches in
On October 14, 2022, Jackson County Commissioners issued a burn ban for the County. Whereas a county-wide burn ban affecting certain activities is an appropriate public safety response to the fire hazards presented by the current dry conditions, windy conditions, and low humidity creating the National Weather Service to issue Red Flag warnings.

On Monday, J.B. Hackman, president and owner of Bob Poynter GM in Seymour, presented a $1,000 check to the parks and recreation department for youth baseball and softball.

The public is invited to tour the newly renovated Seymour City Hall during an after-hours open house in December.
Staff will be available from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 9 to take people on tours of the facility and talk about the renovations including the addition of an art gallery that features locally submitted artwork.

Mayor Matt Nicholson delivered a proclamation Monday declaring June 14, 2021, as Flag Day in Seymour. The declaration came as part of Seymour Elks Lodge 462’s Flag Day ceremony conducted on the patio at Brewskies Downtown.
The annual event is an opportunity to learn more about the history of the American flag and to show honor and respect for everything for which it stands.
