About Seymour

The City of Seymour is located one hour south of Indianapolis, one hour north of Louisville and one and one-half hours west of Cincinnati. Seymour, Jackson County, Indiana is the place to live your future! Seymour has a population of approximately 20,000 residents and is served by Mayor Matthew Nicholson, Clerk-Treasurer Darrin Boas and seven Councilmembers.

Seymour is a thriving industrial, commercial, and residential community based on well-planned growth and progress. The quality of life is demonstrated by Seymour’s “small town” yet bustling atmosphere, beautiful parks and open spaces, attractive landscaping and arterial streets, a low crime rate, quality schools and affordable housing. Because of the geographic location, a pro-business environment, and a proactive local government — Seymour is expected to continue to grow.

Mayor’s Fitness Challenge for 2022

While I am calling this a fitness challenge I am really just trying to get you up and more active.

 - Walk/Run 30 miles each month

and/or

 - Bike 100 miles each month.

Decide to do one or both and have fun along the way. This can add up to 360 miles of walk/run for 2022 and/or 1200 miles of bike miles for 2022. If you are already active these numbers seem low. If you have become less active these numbers seem huge.

Don't forget to encourage your friends to tag along by sharing those photos with the hashtag #22fitnesschallenge

Go ahead and save it to your favorites because it will be your place to record each month.

As the Jacobs brothers said "What we focus on grows." and in 2022 I hope you will join me in focusing on your fitness and help grow yourself and our community into a healthier tomorrow.
